How to Recover a Lost Password in WordPress?

If you forget or lost the password in WordPress you don’t need to worry about it. We can easily recover the lost password.

In WordPress, there are many options to reset the password. Normally, the easiest way to reset it through the WordPress built-in system “Lost your password?”.

Recover Lost Password in WordPress by e-mail

The easiest way to recover a password is with the user registered email/username.

First of all, you need to go to the login page ( suppose the URL be: http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin). Then, in your login page, you can find a Lost your password?  link just below the login form as shown in the figure below.

Click on that “Lost your password?” link. There you need to provide your user name or email address.

This username or email must register in your WordPress site. After that, click the “Get New Password” button after you enter the username or email address.

Now, WordPress will send an email to the email address associated with that account. Check your inbox if not also check in the spam folder. There WordPress has sent the password reset link. In that mail, we can find reset link. Click on the link below to “To rest your password, visit the following address:”. This link will redirect you to your website and will allow you to enter a new password for your WordPress account.

For example, you will get something just like shown below:

Site Name:

Username: your register email/username

If this was a mistake, just ignore this email and nothing will happen.

In this step, WordPress will automatically generate a strong password for you. You can remove that password and you can create your own strong password.

Once you entered a password, click the Reset Password button. There you will see a success message “Your password has been reset. Log in”.

Now you can click login link to sign in to your WordPress Site.
