WordCamp Kathmandu 2018 is scheduled to be held on March 17th and 18th, 2018. This is the first WordCamp to be finalized for 2018. That means we have a lot of time to prepare and make this better and grander than ever. The WordCamp this year is a 2 day event, unlike other WordCamps in the past (in Nepal of course). To start with the preparations and get over the tasks and stay ahead, lead organizer Yam B Chhetri has opened the call for organizers. Preference would obviously be given to those who have attended (not necessarily part of organizing team) the event in the past. This is an open call so anyone who is interested is open to come and attend the meeting (even if you are not planning to be in the organizing team).
The meeting to select organizers will be held on 19th of August 2017, which means we have around 10 days from the day of this post is published. The meeting is scheduled for 9 AM and will be held at Acclaim Technology (Map). Yam Chhetri says he is expecting more new faces to be in the organizing team this time around. There could be around 15+ members in the organizing team this time around. The final decision will be made in the next couple of days by the lead organizer himself. There could be more than one person in a domain. With that, he also did let out a hint of possible WordCamp Pokhara 2018, but this is still in planning phase and nothing concrete as of now.
WordCamps Nepal/Kathmandu have been a part of WordPress developer’s calendar here in Nepal since 2012 and with preparations starting so early on, 2018 would only be better and we would like to wish them the best of luck. If you are interested in being an organizer for the event, then do not forget to mark you dates for the meeting and yes please be in time as the community of WordPress Nepal has the habit of starting in time always. Eventually call for Sponsors and Speakers will also be made, so please keep an eye on that as well.
